COLIN DALE excentric belfast vibe northern ireland clubbingWIth 2008 being the 20th anniversary of the 1988 "Summer of Love 2", Mynt have lineup a very sepcial weekend of events. Headlining VIBE's "Summer of Love" weekender party is none-other than Colin Dale. To call Colin Dale "legendary" is no over-estimation...here is a DJ that has pushed the original Kiss FM pirate radio station and been one of London’s most cutting edge pioneers for over 20 years!

It all began back in 1981 when the born and bred Londoner who was working in one of the cities big banks began to immerse himself in London’s hedonistic club scene. Soon enough he was mixing a variety of exciting, ground-breaking house music that was starting to emerge in the London Underground.

The first big break in his new career came in 1983 when Colin became a warm up DJ for the pioneer hip-hop guru “Tim Westwood”, playing soul and funk classics, early electro killers and rap.

The DJ bug bit hard and Colin jacked the Bank in favour of a career in music full time…and hasn’t looked back since. “In 1985 I decided to pursue my passion of music fully and I jacked in the bank job for a career in music” Mi Price records was the first and foremost records shops at the time to see the potential in house music. Colin spent 6 years at the record shop working with names such as Carl Cox, Jazzy M, Luke Slater and Alan Sage. Its given him a almost encyclopaedia like memory of early House music and a record collection to die for.

There has also been the 15 year run of the cult radio show called “Abstrakt Dance” on London’s dance music station “Kiss FM”. In between 1985-2000 Colin was responsible for literally bring a whole new wave of music to London’s airways. Running right through the Summer of Love, the guest on the show read like a who’s who of Dance music, including Derek May, Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell, Dave Clarke, Blake Baxter, Dave Angel…with artists such as Prodigy & Aphex Twin giving him thanks for exposing their sounds to the masses.

Still as busy and popular as ever these days Colin modern sound is tough and funky with blissful shades of electro and tech house. Expect a fused sound as Colin spins an eclectic set of old and new for the Mynt Summer of Love weekender.
